BMR / Resting Energy Estimate
Estimate resting energy expenditure using the Mifflin-St Jeor equations.
What this answers:
- Roughly how many calories does my body use at rest, before any activity?
The male/female coefficients are parameters of the published equation, not a complete description of every individual's physiology. The original study covered healthy adults ages 19–78 — this is not a meal prescription and is not intended for children, pregnancy, or critical illness.

How it's calculated
male: 10W + 6.25H − 5A + 5 female: 10W + 6.25H − 5A − 161
Worked example
80 kg, 180 cm, 30 years: 1,780 kcal/day (male coefficient) or 1,614 kcal/day (female coefficient).
